Summer 2004 - After a bad break-up with a girl I'd been with for 4 years, I travelled overseas for a few months to get myself in order. When I returned home, I wrote and recorded 3 songs in my bedroom, where I'd felt I'd written most of my best material up to that point. This song was written for a girl named Jamie, of whom I'd made good friends with during my breaks from school. She was a sweetheart, and at some point, because she was so much younger than I was, I started to feel weird and guilty about hanging out with her, and ultimately pushed her away. I wrote this song about her velcro shoes, due to the amount of time I'd spent making fun of them. I felt bad about breaking off a perfectly good friendship with someone I had really cared about, and I felt like I'd lied to her and myself about my own feelings at the time. This has more of a 'Squish' feel with the Moog and everything I think. This was released on the Little Spaces EP as just supplement, but I really do like this song. Sorry, Jamie.
